Welcome

Welcome to the Northern Kentucky Interfaith Commission's Website.  Our organization began in 1969 when Protestants and Catholics in Boone, Campbell and Kenton Counties came together for worship, prayer and community service resulting in a variety of countless opportunities for Ecumenical and Interfaith participation through the years.

2009 being the 40th Anniversary of our organization, was also a year of transition.  Rev. Jim Bishop who had served as our Director since September of 2006 resigned at the time of our Annual Assembly in October, and Rev. Bill Neuroth who had served as Director from 1987 to 2002 returned as Director.  During Jim's tenure, in addition to the annual scheduled activities, he was instrumental in initiating the "9/11 Pray for Peace Service" at the World Peace Bell in Newport, Ky.  He was also involved in the World Day of Prayer in May at our International Airport and was instrumental in initiating the Northern Kentucky Clergy Disaster Response Team in conjunction with the American Red Cross.

During the first forty years of our existence, the membership consisted of Christians of various denominations who were 'officially delegated' to represent their affiliation.  However, at the 40th Annual Assembly in October 2009 a 'Membership at Large' concept was adopted resulting in our organization becoming an association of like minded individuals interested in fostering Christian Unity in Northern Kentucky who enjoy fellowship and Ecumenical opportunities.

Organizationally, the 'General Members' would meet quarterly and Project Teams would meet as necessary to implement specific calendar events.  The NKIFC would continue to be governed by the Annual Assembly in October.

All of our events and meetings are open to the public and we welcome input from people of as many different Christian denominations as possible, believing that our diversity is our strength.

PRAYER OF UNITY

Dear Lord,

Unite the Churches of Christ
that have been splintered
over the centuries for each
year that passes the wedges
grow deeper and deeper.

As our faith grows we must
see not what separates us,
but what joins us.

Only then can we once again
become true patrons of the
faith.

Through your word and divine mercy we shall become united
again.

                              Amen
